These are the simple, fair rules I work by. No small print tricks, just so we both know where we stand before any work starts.
They apply to all bookings and repair work by Mike Will Fix IT.

Payment is due in full when the work is completed, unless we have agreed otherwise in advance. I accept cash, card, bank transfer, and PayPal. Business rates apply to work done for a business, including when payment is made by company card or from a company account. For business customers paying on invoice, payment is due within 14 days of the invoice date.
I'm a one-man business, so being paid on time genuinely matters. If payment is late, I may charge interest at 8% a year above the Bank of England base rate. For business customers, this is the statutory rate under the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998, plus the fixed compensation that Act allows. If I have to take further steps to recover an unpaid bill, you agree to cover my reasonable recovery costs, including court fees.
If you drop your computer off with me, I'll keep it safe until the work is paid for. Repaired devices are returned once payment has been made in full.
Please collect your device promptly once the work is done. If a device is left with me for more than 60 days despite reminders, I may charge a reasonable storage fee. After 90 days, and after giving you written notice, I may sell or responsibly dispose of it to cover what's owed, with anything left over returned to you.
If I am unable to resolve your computer issue, you will not be charged for the work. However, callout fees still apply as these cover travel time and costs.
Callout fees are non-refundable and cover travel to your location. These range from £10-£40 depending on your area in London. You can avoid this fee by bringing your computer to me in Brixton.
While I take every care with your data, I recommend backing up important files before any repair work. I am not responsible for data loss during repairs, though I will always attempt to preserve your data where possible.
All repair work comes with a 6-month guarantee covering the same fault. This does not cover new faults, physical damage, software issues caused by user actions, or virus reinfection.
Time estimates are provided in good faith but are not guaranteed. Some issues may take longer to diagnose or repair than initially anticipated.
If parts are required, I will discuss options and costs with you before ordering. Parts costs are in addition to work charges and are paid for up front. If a part has been ordered specially for your job and can't be returned to the supplier, I'm unable to refund it.
Please provide at least 24 hours notice if you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment. If I travel to you and nobody is home, or a visit is cancelled at very short notice, I may charge the callout fee for your area.
I am not responsible for indirect or financial losses, such as loss of income, loss of business, or loss of data beyond the cost of the repair itself. My total liability is limited to the amount you paid me for the work.
I am not responsible for problems that were already present before I started work, even if they become noticeable afterwards.
I am not responsible for problems caused by software updates, Windows updates, driver updates, or third-party software installed before or after my work.
I'm a one-man business and occasionally have to say no. I may decline a job, or stop work already in progress, at my discretion, for example if I'm asked to do something I believe is unlawful, if a device appears not to belong to the person asking, or if I'm treated abusively. If I stop a job partway, you only pay for the work completed up to that point.
My normal working hours are Monday to Friday, 10am to 6:30pm. I can sometimes help in the evening or at the weekend. This is by arrangement, and an out-of-hours rate may apply, which I will always agree with you before the visit is booked.
